“INFORMATION PUBLISHED IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 4(1)(B) OF THE RTI ACT 2005”
The Right to Information Act 2005 (22 of 2005) was passed by the Parliament of India and came into effect on June 15, 2005. This Act grants the right to information during the process of seeking information that is concealed by public authorities intent on promoting transparency and accountability. Every University and College incorporated by the law of Parliament or State Legislature or by Government notification or owned, controlled, or substantially financed, directly or indirectly through Government funds would be covered under the definition of Public Authority under this Act.
On June 15, 2005, certain provisions of this Act were operational immediately upon its enactment. Other provisions will be activated 100/120 days post enactment. Therefore, all universities and colleges are encouraged to study this Act thoroughly so that all proactive measures can be taken to implement all the provisions including the disclosure of some information proactively. Such information will be published for the public through the concerned university/college’s website.
